Jeanilyn Kwan was born in Lagos, Nigeria three months after Ted Bundy’s execution. She now lives 8,000 miles away from “home” with hopes to one day explore the mind of a serial killer. Because of the dual citizenship ban in her father's country, she really can't call herself a Filipino-Singaporean. So far, she has authored 10 serious poems, more or less, as well as other nonsense which you can find in a few publications and websites. Her most prized accolade is a Formal Notice of Tardiness from the English proficiency writing center she once worked for.

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. And no matter how strong the rains of Castamere come pouring down on you in battle, blood will always be thicker than water.

"He’s a 20th century boy. She’s a 20th century girl."
Central MTR Station, Hong Kong

We went to the show with a plan to rave from start to finish. I didn’t get any sleep the night before, but not out of excitement. I had a deadline to meet. We weren’t even halfway through the band’s set when I felt like passing out. I hoped for a miracle. And I got it in the form of a used bottle of Evian that Nii STOLE from the Medic’s table. There was nothing to hold out for. To the toes I stomped on whenever I pogoed; to the faces I whipped with my hair; to the heads I hit whenever I threw my hands up in the air; to the ears I screamed into whenever Kele attempted to give a spiel, whenever Matt was being impossible to photograph, whenever Gordon sung in second voice, and whenever Russell’s facial expression changed; to everyone behind, beside, and in front of me who I ungratefully pushed and shoved (especially to the couple on my left who were trying to have their “moment”), I apologize if I put your Mercuries in retrograde. ;)

The image of Lirio as he is today, a far cry from the man we see in this picture, still haunts me in an unusually beautiful way. Witnessing what is left of a person’s physical appearance after so much suffering will always be disheartening. But, there is also a certain kind of peace in seeing a genius now with so much innocence glimmering in his eyes, like those of a child looking forward to the future and the world that exists outside his bedroom windows. It is also in that same world where he was and still is looked upon as a man with great talent and charm. This kind of peace translates to a higher form of hope. His body, as frail as it is, carries the strength of those who have never ceased to stop caring for him. But, it takes more than strength to get over such an ordeal. Lirio in his current state is just a partial reason to bring tears to your eyes. What really tugs at your heartstrings is the unconditional love Meann still shows him after many years. Although Lirio has gone through 377 days without justice, he survived and continues to survive. We can only hope for so much more.

I’m not on Lookbook.nu because my closet doesn’t have enough items from Topshop, Zara, H&M, local and foreign ukay-ukays. :P And I can’t strike a modelesque pose for the camera even if my life depended on it. So, whenever I’m in the mood to be a fazhyun guru, I go to Looklet.com. Here, I can find different models in default one-handed akimbo poses, and dress them all up in ways Barbie would if she were on drugs. Their facial expressions are editable too!

  • Milena: You have a clothes dryer?
  • China: It comes with the washing machine.
  • Milena: Is it a dryer or a spinner?
  • China: Uhm, I don't know the difference. I don't use them both. I have this thing with technology..
  • Milena: No. You have this thing called a domesticated boyfriend.

They don’t love you like I strangely do..
Happy Birthday, KO! <3

  • Meg: There's a line in the film about Scarlett having chronic dissatisfaction.
  • Jen: Oh, I don't remember that.
  • Meg: It was in the scene where she wanted to leave.
  • Jen: I still don't remember. Lelz. When did you watch this movie?
  • Meg: Three years ago?
  • Jen: And you remember it so vividly?
  • Meg: It spoke to me. Lelz.
  • Jen: Penelope was the only one in it who spoke to me... I just couldn't understand her.
